Right around the corner from the inn, in neighboring Stockton Springs, is Fort Point State Park. The smallish, off-the-beaten-track park consist of 120 sea-side acres at the mouth of the Penobscot River. Coastal picnic areas, bicycle trials around Cape Jellison, and a 200 foot fishing pier make this little-known park an ideal get-a-way. While there, visit the two lighthouses and the remains of Fort Pownall, built in 1759.
